About this postcard

A tinted street view looks south down 19th Street from its intersection with 4th Avenue in Birmingham, Alabama, with tall brick commercial blocks lining both sides, awnings over the sidewalks, horse-drawn wagons and a streetcar in the roadway, and a tower-topped building rising at the left. The printed caption names the corner, and the card dates from the era when Birmingham was a fast-growing iron and steel center and 19th Street was the city's principal retail and office thoroughfare.
