Sell or donate

Sell or donate
your postcards.

We buy antique postcards, single cards or whole albums, and gladly accept donations. Everything we take in gets scanned, transcribed, and published in a public archive, so the messages and street scenes on the front stay readable for another century.

What we are looking for

Always buying

We are most interested in American cards from the 1900s through the 1950s, especially:

  • Real photo postcards (RPPCs)
  • Undivided backs
  • Named streets and store fronts
  • Factories, mills, and workshops
  • Railroad depots and bridges
  • Floods, fires, and other disasters
  • Interiors: homes, shops, hotels, theaters
  • One of each distinct printed view
  • Anything historical, people at work or play

That said, do not rule yourself out. Sellers are in all sorts of situations, and we would rather hear about a box of cards than miss it. If it is old, from somewhere in America, and has a story, send us a note. We are always happy to take a look and tell you what we see.

Common situations

Sound familiar?

Settling an estate

You are handling a loved one's affairs and a box of postcards turned up among the personal effects. We can value them, buy them outright, or accept them as a donation in their name.

Downsizing or moving

The collection cannot come with you. Rather than see it split up or thrown out, pass it on whole: we take single albums or entire boxes and preserve everything we accept.

Inherited an album you know nothing about

Grandmother's postcard album is fascinating but means nothing to the rest of the family. We will identify what it holds, tell you plainly what it is worth, and make an offer.

Thinning a collection

You collected for years and it is time to let some or all of it go. We are happy to take duplicates, common views, or the whole cabinet.

Clearing out a house or shop

Estate sale companies, antique dealers, and cleanout crews: old stock in a drawer or back room may be worth more than you think. We buy in lots, big or small.

Found a box in the attic

Cards from a hundred years ago look like treasure, and sometimes they are. Send us a few photos and we will tell you what you have, with no obligation.

However the cards landed with you, the next step is the same: send a note describing what you have, and we will take it from there.

How it works

Simple from either side

1

You reach out with a description, a few photos, or just a list of what you have. Place names on the backs are gold.

2

We make an offer for purchases, or arrange shipping for donations. You keep the originals until you are comfortable.

3

We do the rest: scanning both sides, transcribing the handwriting, and publishing the card with credit where it is due.
