A heavily laden orange tree stands in front of a white classical-style building with columns, its branches thick with fruit above a lawn and flowering shrubs. The sender's note from Pasadena in February 1911 boasts "More oranges than leaves on the tree" and wishes the recipient could enjoy the flowers, a familiar winter message from Southern California's citrus-growing country. Pasadena and the San Gabriel Valley were then widely promoted for their orange groves and mild climate.
