About this postcard

The two-story Greek Revival frame house at Eighth and Jackson Streets in Springfield, Illinois, stands behind a white picket fence, with an American flag flying from a pole in the yard. The Lincoln family lived here from 1844 until they left for Washington in February 1861; it is the only home Abraham Lincoln ever owned. By 1941 the house had long been kept as a memorial, and it is now the centerpiece of Lincoln Home National Historic Site.
