Ada County Courthouse, Boise, Idaho, 1945

About this postcard

The Ada County Courthouse stands behind a lawn with a curving walk and beds of red and yellow flowers, its light stone facade and stepped massing partly shaded by large trees. The printed caption calls it the Court House in Boise and describes a $500,000 building, "one of the finest in the nation." The card also ties Ada County's early prominence to gold from Boise Basin, a two-hour drive from the city, and credits the basin with more than $100 million in production during its heyday. By the time of the card's 1945 message, the courthouse was a familiar civic landmark in Idaho's capital.
