About this postcard

A long white clapboard administration building with a central columned portico and clock cupola stands behind a field of tall grass. Two figures walk along a path in front; a utility pole and water tower appear at right. The building was the administrative center of Quoddy Village, a federal planned community built in the mid-1930s for workers on the Passamaquoddy Tidal Power Project near Eastport. The village and its offices were part of an ambitious New Deal attempt to generate electricity from the tides of Passamaquoddy Bay, a project that was never completed.
