Administration Building, University Camp for Boys, 1928

About this postcard

The administration building at the University Camp for Boys stands among tall trees, a long, low rustic structure with dark siding, a broad open porch, and a large roof. Boys in light summer clothing gather on and near the porch, and a flagpole rises at the right. The open porch and simple construction fit the early twentieth-century ideal of camp life as a healthy outdoor experience. A camper named Fred sent the card home to his mother with a short note apologizing for not writing sooner and saying he had a good time.
