About this postcard
A large wooden water wheel, labeled by a rustic sign reading "AERATING WATER WHEEL," turns in the spring-fed water of the Blue Hole at Castalia, Ohio, with flowering shrubs and dense green foliage behind it. The wheel was a roadside attraction at this cold, artesian spring pool near Sandusky, promoted as part of "Ohio's Lake Erie Vacationland." Castalia's springs, noted for their clear blue water, also supported fish-cultural work in the area during the early twentieth century.
