About this postcard
The view looks down over densely wooded ridges of Tuscarora Mountain, where the Lincoln Highway winds through the forest as a pale line. Cleared fields and farm buildings lie in the valley at right, and successive ridgelines fade toward the horizon. The Lincoln Highway, dedicated in 1913 as the first transcontinental automobile road, crosses this part of the Ridge-and-Valley Appalachians in south-central Pennsylvania. Its mountain crossings were demanding early routes for motorists, and this stretch shows the road cut through dense forest and steep terrain.
