Aerial view of Bagnell Dam, spanning the Osage River with the reservoir backed up behind it, a road curving along the shoreline, and wooded hills on both sides of the water.
Bagnell Dam was completed in 1931, built by the Union Electric Company of St. Louis to generate power and to create Lake of the Ozarks. The new lake drew vacationers and sportsmen to the Missouri hills, and aerial views like this one presented the engineering feat and the resort landscape it made.
