About this postcard

The view looks down on downtown Miami from above, with a cluster of hotels and office towers rising beyond green parkland, parking lots, and a large red-roofed bayfront building. A tall white tower at right of center stands out against the denser blocks of the business district. The caption calls Miami "The Magic Metropolis," a booster slogan for a city that had grown fast in the 1920s land boom and kept drawing winter visitors in the decades that followed. By the late 1950s, the downtown skyline still showed the hotels and office buildings of that earlier boom, with parking lots and open space between them.
