About this postcard

An elevated bird's-eye view of North Beach, the resort strip across Corpus Christi Bay from downtown, showing a grid of streets lined with low bathhouses, pavilions, cottages and commercial buildings, with long wooden fishing piers and a breakwater reaching into the blue water. Sailboats and small craft dot the bay, and a broad sandy beach fills the foreground. North Beach developed in the early 20th century as Corpus Christi's seaside amusement and bathing district, connected to the city by a causeway and later devastated by the 1919 hurricane.
