About this postcard

The aerial view looks over St. Petersburg's downtown waterfront, with the Vinoy Park Hotel and the Recreation Pier among the landmarks along the bay. Long piers reach into the water, parkland lines the shore, and a large red-brick building stands near the waterfront. The Vinoy Park Hotel, a Mediterranean Revival resort opened in the 1920s, anchored the city's tourist district, while the Recreation Pier was one of the waterfront attractions that drew visitors. The sender's note of warm, low-humidity weather and a planned swim in the Gulf fits the city's role as a Florida resort in 1946.

6/6 at St. Petersburg, Fla. We had a very lovely trip down. Have been thinking of the Ch & S.S. particularly this date as it is our S.S. monthly conference. It is quite warm here but the humidity is low. We expect to go bathing this P.M., in the beautiful blue waters of the Gulf. Give my regards to all there and also the class, and the family also joining me - Gat.
