About this postcard
A bird's-eye view of Key West, Florida, seen from over the water, with the Overseas Highway causeway and its bridges curving in from the lower left toward the densely built, tree-shaded island town. The caption names it as the highway approach to Key West from the air. The road is the Overseas Highway (U.S. 1), completed in 1938 largely along the right-of-way of Henry Flagler's abandoned Florida East Coast Railway, which made Key West the southern terminus of a continuous drive from the mainland.
