About this postcard
A twin-engine airliner flies above San Francisco Bay, with Treasure Island at center-left, the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge crossing the water, and the San Francisco waterfront below; Oakland and Berkeley lie in the distant hills. The printed caption reads "Air Liner over San Francisco, Treasure Island, Bay Bridge, Oakland and Berkeley in Distance" and describes the arrival after a 16-hour coast-to-coast flight from New York. Treasure Island had been built for the 1939 Golden Gate International Exposition, and the Bay Bridge had opened in 1936, making the scene a showcase of the bay's new infrastructure.
