About this postcard

An elevated view looks down on Natural Bridge, a limestone arch spanning Cedar Creek in Rockbridge County, Virginia, a few miles west of the Blue Ridge Mountains. A road and footpath pass beneath the 215-foot-high span, and the long red-roofed Natural Bridge Hotel and its landscaped grounds sit on the wooded hillside above. The bridge is 90 feet long, averages 100 feet wide, and is 40 feet thick. The surrounding 157 acres, including the bridge, were granted to Thomas Jefferson by George III in 1774. The hotel served travelers to the privately owned formation for generations before the site became a Virginia state park in 2016.
