About this postcard

The Alabama Memorial at Gettysburg centers on a female figure, the spirit of the Confederacy, flanked by two warriors who represent the spirit and determination of Alabama's soldiers. The light stone monument stands among mature trees and lawn on the ground Alabama troops occupied during their July 1863 struggle to gain control of Little Round Top. Alabama dedicated the memorial in 1933, one of the state monuments that mark the positions of units from both armies at Gettysburg. Its inscription addresses Alabamians and says their names are inscribed on Fame's immortal scroll.
