The Alabama Memorial at Gettysburg shows a central female figure, symbolizing the spirit of the Confederacy, flanked by two warriors who represent the determination of Alabama's soldiers. The light stone monument stands among mature trees and lawn on the ground Alabama troops occupied during their July 1863 struggle to gain control of Little Round Top. Alabama dedicated the memorial in 1933; its inscription calls out "Alabamians!" and says their names are inscribed on Fame's immortal scroll.
