About this postcard
A view of the Alabama Memorial on the Gettysburg battlefield, a light stone monument carved with three Confederate soldiers — one standing and pointing, two kneeling with rifle and accoutrements — set among mature trees and lawn. The Alabama Division of the United Daughters of the Confederacy raised the monument, dedicated in 1933, to Alabamians who fought at Gettysburg in July 1863; its inscriptions include "Alabamians!" and "Your names are inscribed on Fame's immortal scroll." The card's linen-textured stock and bright coloring are typical of the 1930s–1940s.
