About this postcard
A four-story red brick hospital block with rows of tall windows stands at the corner of Racine and Webster Avenues, shaded by large trees and fronted by a low fence and sidewalk where a few small figures pass. The Alexian Brothers are a Roman Catholic religious congregation devoted to the care of the sick, founded in the Middle Ages in the Low Countries and active in American cities, including Chicago, by the nineteenth century. The card pictures their Chicago hospital in the years before World War I.
