About this postcard
The Allen County Court House in Fort Wayne, Indiana, seen from a street corner: a large Beaux-Arts style stone building with a green-domed clock tower topped by a weathervane, an American flag on a pole at the roofline, and 1930s-40s automobiles parked along the curb. The present courthouse was built in 1897 to designs of the Fort Wayne firm Wing & Mahurin, replacing an earlier 1830s structure on the same site, and its dome and monumental classical facade made it a downtown landmark. The surrounding commercial blocks and period cars date this view to roughly the late 1930s or 1940s.
