About this postcard

The Allied Arts Building rises above a hillside street in Lynchburg, Virginia, its Art Deco tower overlooking older houses and trees on the slope to the left and a red brick commercial block in the right foreground. Completed in 1931, the 17-story office building became a local landmark of the city's commercial growth, and this view shows it in the early 1940s among the smaller buildings around downtown.
