The American Falls pour into a misty basin at Niagara Falls, seen from the New York side. At left, a small group of tourists stands on the rocky, tree-covered brink at Prospect Point overlooking the water. Prospect Point was one of the oldest overlooks on the American side, and by the early 1900s the falls were a well-established stop for sightseers and honeymooners.
