About this postcard
A night view of the American Falls at Niagara Falls, seen from below and lit by banks of colored floodlights that wash the falling water in bands of orange, blue, green and yellow against a dark sky and foreground. The American Falls lie on the New York side of the Niagara River, opposite the larger Horseshoe Falls in Ontario, and illumination of the cataracts with colored lights became a regular evening attraction in the twentieth century. The card's own caption names the scene as the American Falls seen from below by illumination.
