About this postcard

The American Falls seen from Goat Island, with the curtain of water plunging into the gorge and a small observation structure at the left brink. Goat Island, reached by bridge in 1817, separates the American Falls from the Horseshoe Falls and has long been the classic vantage point for viewing them; the surrounding reservation became Niagara Falls State Park, the oldest state park in the United States, in 1885. The card's tinted, dot-screen printing is typical of the color lithographed views sold to tourists in the early 20th century.
