About this postcard
Night view of the American Falls at Niagara Falls, lit by multicolored floodlights that tint the falling water and the mist rising from the gorge, with a starry sky above. The illumination was a four-hour evening display powered by the falls themselves through a "Billion Candle-power Battery of Lights." The American Falls is one of the three waterfalls that make up Niagara Falls, dropping roughly 180 feet on the New York side of the international border. By the 1930s the illuminated falls were a well-established evening attraction for tourists.
