The view shows Ames Memorial Hall in North Easton, Massachusetts, a Richardsonian Romanesque building with a red roof, stone arches, and a corner tower. A broad staircase leads to the entrance, and trees frame the hall.
Designed by H. H. Richardson, the hall commemorates Oakes Ames, the congressman and railroad promoter. North Easton was home to the Ames shovel works, and the family's philanthropy gave the village a notable group of Richardson buildings.
