About this postcard

A crowd fills the tiered seating of the great open-air amphitheatre at Red Rocks Park, looking down onto the pale stage and dance floor set among massive tilted slabs of red sandstone, with green plains and dark foothills beyond. The amphitheatre was built 1936–1941 by the Civilian Conservation Corps and the City of Denver, using native sandstone for its seating and stage walls, and it became famous for Easter sunrise services and later for concerts. The card's number and linen texture place it in the late 1930s to 1940s.
