A crowd fills the tiered sandstone seating of the Red Rocks amphitheatre, looking down onto the pale stage and dance floor set among massive tilted slabs of red rock. Green plains and dark foothills stretch beyond the open-air bowl. Red Rocks Park lies just west of Denver, and the amphitheatre was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps and the City of Denver between 1936 and 1941, using native sandstone. Its setting and acoustics made it a regular site for Easter sunrise services and concerts.
