About this postcard
Sepia view of the Angelus Temple in Los Angeles's Echo Park, the domed auditorium Aimee Semple McPherson built for her International Church of the Foursquare Gospel. Signs on the facade read "ANGELUS TEMPLE" and "AIMEE SEMPLE McPHERSON," and a large board out front advertises a "CONTINUOUS REVIVAL" with Sunday illustrated sermons, a "Land of the Midnight Sun" program, and Saturday divine healing; a banner at left announces a "SECOND COMING RALLY." Dedicated in 1923 and seating about 5,300, the temple stood at the center of McPherson's radio and revival ministry, which drew crowds to Echo Park through the 1920s. Power transmission towers and streetcar wires frame the view.
