About this postcard
A bird's-eye view of the sprawling Anheuser-Busch Brewing Association complex in St. Louis, Missouri, with its red-brick brewhouses, tall smokestacks trailing smoke, a clock tower flying a flag, and streetcars and horse-drawn wagons moving through the yards below. The caption names the plant directly. Founded in 1852 by Eberhard Anheuser and taken over by his son-in-law Adolphus Busch, the St. Louis brewery grew into one of the largest in the world, and this view shows the scale of its late-nineteenth-century expansion near the city's south side.
