About this postcard
A street view looking toward the tower of the Ohio River suspension bridge at Covington, Kentucky, with a streetcar approaching on the tracks and pedestrians on the sidewalk; brick and stone commercial buildings with awnings line the right side of the street. The bridge shown is John A. Roebling's Cincinnati–Covington Suspension Bridge, opened in 1866 and widely regarded as the prototype for his later Brooklyn Bridge. Covington, on the Kentucky bank opposite Cincinnati, was a busy river town whose bridge approach carried street railway traffic between the two cities.
