About this postcard

A long two-story white stucco building with a red mansard-style roof, dormer windows and green louvered shutters, seen across a lawn with flower beds; the central bay has a pediment with a clock face, a balustraded balcony and an arched entrance. This is the Archbishop's Palace (now the Old Ursuline Convent complex area) on Chartres Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans, long the residence of the city's Catholic archbishops. The building's simple classical front and steep red roof are characteristic of the French colonial and later antebellum architecture preserved in the Vieux Carré.
