About this postcard

The Arizona State Capitol in Phoenix, a Neoclassical building with a central dome, pedimented portico and columned wings, seen across landscaped lawns with palms and flowering shrubs. Completed in 1901 to designs by James Riely Gordon while Arizona was still a territory, it housed the state government until the legislature moved to adjacent buildings in 1960 and now serves as the Arizona Capitol Museum. The card's Curt Teich "8B" number dates the view to about 1938, when the building's final wings were added.
