About this postcard

Aerial-style view of the white marble Arlington Memorial Amphitheatre, its colonnaded elliptical auditorium rising behind a columned entrance portico with a red-tiled roof, set in lawns with winding drives and a few parked automobiles. Dedicated in 1920 and designed by architect Thomas Hastings, the amphitheater in Arlington National Cemetery hosts the nation's Memorial Day and Veterans Day observances, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier stands in its plaza. The card's coloring and automobiles suggest a 1930s printing.
