About this postcard

A three-story brick armory with a crenellated parapet and stone foundation stands at the corner of a paved street, an American flag flying from a tall pole at its front; a lower wing with a tall brick smokestack extends to the left, and small evergreens and a low hedge line the base of the building. Tamaqua, a coal-region town in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, built its National Guard armory in the early 20th century to house local militia companies. The postcard's linen-era coloring and the printed number 'T1' suggest a mid-20th-century printing.
