At the Farmyard, pigs beside a stream, Amesbury, MA, 1909

Card type
Lithograph

About this postcard

A pastoral scene titled "At the Farmyard" shows a small drove of light-colored pigs grazing in a grassy meadow beside a narrow stream that winds in from the lower left. Behind them a rail fence, a cluster of dark shade trees and a low farm building with a pale wall close the view under a yellow-green sky. Such generic rural views were popular turn-of-the-century postcard subjects, printed in color for wide sale rather than to record a specific farm.
