About this postcard
The view looks down a broad, tree-lined boulevard with lawns and a large domed classical building of Augustana College rising on the right above a grassy terrace and steps. A few automobiles are visible on the street. The printed caption calls Seventh Avenue Blvd. the main thoroughfare between Rock Island and Moline, the two Mississippi River cities it connected. Augustana College was founded in 1860 by Swedish Lutheran immigrants and moved to Rock Island in 1875, becoming a center of Swedish-American education in the Midwest. The domed building shown belongs to the campus that took shape after that move.
