About this postcard
A weathered, shingle-clad cottage with a small sign reading "AULD LANG SYNE" above its door, with a group of men, women and children seated and standing outside it; the printed caption identifies it as the oldest house at Siasconset, Massachusetts. Siasconset is a village on the eastern shore of Nantucket Island, long known as a summer resort whose closely packed, gray-shingled cottages and rose-covered fences are its signature. The card was issued by the Rotograph Co. of New York in 1905, when such "oldest house" views were popular souvenirs for summer visitors.
