About this postcard

"Aunt Mary," the cook named in the caption, stands at the open hearth in the Governor's Palace kitchen at Williamsburg. She wears colonial dress and a white cap and tends pots hanging over the fire. Ladles, kettles, and other cooking utensils hang on the brick fireplace wall and at right. The kitchen was part of Colonial Williamsburg's reconstruction of the Palace, where costumed cooks demonstrated open-hearth cooking for visitors.
