About this postcard
The picture shows a broad river winding between steep, wooded hills in autumn, with a small red-roofed structure beside the railroad grade at the base of the right-hand slope. The printed caption identifies the scene as "Autumn in Jack's Narrows on the Juanita River" along the Pennsylvania Railroad; the river is usually spelled Juniata, and Jack's Narrows is a scenic water gap in central Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Railroad followed this river corridor through the Allegheny Mountains, and scenic views like this were issued to promote travel on the line.
