About this postcard
A meadow of white avalanche lilies fills the foreground, with a weathered snag and a sandy trail beyond, dark conifers at left, and the snow-streaked peaks of the Tatoosh Range rising under a pastel sky. The Tatoosh Range forms the rugged southern backdrop to Mount Rainier in Washington's Cascade Range, and the park's subalpine meadows — including the nearby Paradise and Tipsoo Lake areas — are famous for their summer displays of avalanche lilies, lupine and paintbrush. The linen-textured, pastel-toned rendering is typical of mid-century chromolithograph 'linen' cards produced for the national parks.
