Aviators and child beside biplane, Liberty Loan, circa 1917

About this postcard
A group of men in suits and bowler hats stands in a grassy field with a young girl. Several men wear aviator helmets and leather coats, and a biplane is partly visible at right. A handwritten arrow on the front points to the girl, labeled 'Amig Corke.' The note on the back says a cup was presented to the aviator who got here first, that these men are from Mineola Field, and that they came for the 'Liberty - Iron,' likely the Liberty Loan. Liberty Loan drives during World War I often used aviation exhibitions and bond rallies to draw crowds, which fits the mix of flyers, spectators, and a child beside the machine.
