Bad Land Butte rises in eroded tiers above dark evergreens and rocky, grass-covered slopes, with streaked clouds across a blue sky. The view is in the South Dakota Badlands, a landscape of soft, layered rock cut by wind and water into buttes and gullies. The card calls it a 30 million year old land of mystery and quotes Robert Carr on "Bluffs of ochre and brown and red, in varied glory, aflare, for here is the land of mystery, Where God played solitaire."
Linen-textured stock with visible cross-hatch grain; narrow white border on all sides; printed card number R-346 at top.
No postmark. Divided-back linen card with white border; dealer pencil marks "112" and "2.00" on back; no stamp present.
