Balanced rock formation, circa 1935

Card type
Linen

About this postcard

A large red sandstone boulder sits precariously balanced atop a rounded rock ledge, with green trees at the left and a pale blue sky filled with soft clouds behind it. The scene is a classic roadside-geology view of the kind made famous at Garden of the Gods in Colorado and at other Western parks, where wind and water erosion leave resistant caprock perched on softer, weathered pedestals. No caption identifies this particular formation.
