Baltimore, MD in 1752, colonial view after Moale

About this postcard

A black-and-white view of Baltimore as it appeared in 1752, with about 30 buildings clustered along a hillside above the harbor. Small boats and sailboats rest in the foreground water, a large tree frames the left edge, and rolling hills rise behind the settlement. The caption gives a population of about 200 and identifies the source as an original by Moale held by the Maryland Historical Society. Baltimore was then a young colonial port, founded in 1729 and still little more than a few dozen buildings around the Patapsco.
