Bandshell on the World's Most Famous Beach, Daytona Beach, FL, 1945

About this postcard

The picture shows the Daytona Beach Bandshell on the concrete boardwalk at the north end of the oceanfront, a coquina-stone open-air amphitheater with a great central arch, flanking octagonal towers topped by tiled cupolas, and a stage facing a broad plaza, with the Atlantic visible at right. Built in 1937 as a Works Progress Administration project, it was promoted as the world's largest bandshell and seats 4,500 people. Concerts and civic events have long used the space on the beach the caption calls the "World's Most Famous Beach."
