Banks of the Wabash River, Terre Haute, Indiana, circa 1940

Card type
Linen

About this postcard

A quiet view of the Wabash River near Terre Haute, Indiana, framed by a dark tree trunk at left and overhanging branches at right, with a flowering shrub in the foreground and a low, wooded far bank under a pale sunset sky. The card was issued courtesy of the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce as a scenic promotion of the city's riverfront. Terre Haute grew as a Wabash River town and industrial and railroad center in western Indiana, and the river has long been the community's defining natural feature.
