About this postcard

Night view of the large multi-story Baptist Memorial Hospital, its many windows brightly lit against a deep blue cloudy sky. A low wall and lawn fill the foreground. The printed description calls it the South's largest non-governmental hospital and notes 550 patient rooms, office buildings, stores and shops, and a School of Nursing described as one of the country's outstanding. That mix of medical, commercial, and training space made the Memphis complex a small civic center as well as a place of care, and the nursing school reflects how large hospitals of the era trained their own staff.
