About this postcard

The Barbizon-Plaza Hotel rises behind a screen of trees, with a lake and swans in the foreground, seen from Central Park. The hotel stood on Central Park South, part of the line of tall residential hotels and apartment buildings that faced the park by the 1930s. Its park-side setting gave guests a view over the lake and wooded drives, a prospect that set the Barbizon-Plaza apart from hotels deeper in midtown.
